Living Quarters

Until I got married last year, I had never moved in my entire life. My parents moved with out me at one point last year and allowed me to live in the old house until they could figure out what to do with it. That was an odd expierence. The house wasn't huge by any means but it was plenty big for one person plus a cat and a dog on the weekdays (we sort of had joint custody of the family dog in a way- I was home more often during the weekdays so I took care of her then, and my parents brought her to their new house on the weekends).

I definitely miss living with them a LOT. Especially my cat because she's my baby. When we moved into our apartment last year, they had to go live full time at my parents new house (which they do love it there so that's good), as our apartment does not allow animals. If they did, I would probably try to persuade my parents to let me keep the cat. But I do still get to see her now and again when I visit my parents.

So currently we are in an apartment in St. Paul. It's located right by Como Zoo and the State Fair, which is awesome because we can walk so many places. We are also right by Rosedale Mall/Shopping center which is also awesome, but maybe not so much for my wallet. Our apartment is really not too bad for an apartment, I've put a million holes in the wall to decorate as we can't paint any of the walls. We will probably be here for a while yet. Buying a house isn't in our immediate future. My husband is going onto grad school so we don't really want to buy anything before we know where we'll both be working.

Most of these pictures are from last year, we have made some changes as well but I'm sure I'll have many more posts featuring my DIY decor.

Two vintage trunks I got from my neighbor serve as a TV stand for now.. I'm hoping to at some point cedar line them and use them for blanket storage/ottomans!

My favorite lamp- a vintage find from a thrift store in Arkansas!

Thanks for reading & I hope you have a lovely day!

  1. Oh my goodness, I've always wanted a vintage beaded purse like that. I keep seeing them at flea markets-but they are like 80 dollars! Maybe someday I will talk myself into one as an art piece for my wall ;)

    1. I got that as a gift, it was my great-grandmother's that I never met! I plan on doing a whole jewelery post at some point, I have a ton of vintage accessories!

  2. Looks like you and your hubby are building a very sweet, vintage apartment. :) I've only been married for a year and a half but I completely understand about missing your parents house. I wasn't really into pets but I did have a ton of siblings and we'd have so much fun running around together. *sigh* The good ol days of our youth.... ;)

    1. Thanks Mollie! Yes it is much different than the post and I wish we could be in a house right now, but I will try to treasure the time I have here as well! <3
